About Sarah
My name is Sarah and I’m a 16 year old high school student. I am a competitive golfer, golfing on the Northeast Junior PGA Tour, and also a top player on my high school Varsity Boys team. Golf has become a huge part of my life in so many ways, and I have found a way to use my game to help others.
About Alex
My little brother Alex is 13 years old and was born with Down Syndrome and severe ADHD. Alex is an amazing person and I love him very much. Ask anyone who knows him and you will find that he is compassionate, loving and always knows how to have fun. He is genuine, good hearted and he can be down right hilarious! I’m truly blessed to have him as my Brother. He has taught me much about life, unconditional love, and individuality. He is an important member of our family and our community.
Sarah’s Mission
My mission is to raise funds in support of programs that are important in the lives of other people with disabilities like Alex. Many of these programs are losing funding or being eliminated all together. All of the proceeds from this site will be donated to programs and services that are not funded by any government assistance such as recreation programs, respite, after school programs and recess programs. These programs help people like Alex to have a social life and also build self esteem and confidence. Recreation programs help people stay fit and active while contributing to a healthy life style. My brother attends a program on an almost daily basis at the local YMCA where he visits with friends, goes to the gym, does computer activities, arts and crafts, or sometimes just hangs out and watches TV. All of this in an environment separate from our home, providing him with an important feeling of independence. I want everyone to understand how happy these recreation events make my Brother and his friends; when he comes home from a day of activities he lights up our house with his smile and stories of his day. Without these services, Alex may not get too many invitations to experience life to its fullest. This needs to keep happening !!! I want all people with disabilities to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives, and with your pennies and this web site we can make a difference!
How You Can Contribute
The way that you can contribute to this is simple; I compete in many sanctioned golf tournaments each year. All you have to do is pick an event, or pick two … or pick them all. Donate one penny per stroke, that’s right just one cent, for each stroke I take. Your donation will be equal to One Penny per stroke in that event. For example, if I shoot an 85, you donate 85 cents to the site, it’s that easy and it will definitely make a difference. For more details and to make a pledge, click the “Donate Now” icon on this page.
I hope that you can find a way to give some pennies to help, but most importantly, I hope you can find an opportunity to give people with disabilities a chance. Let someone special into your life. You will find something inside you to be proud of. Alex does it for me… and I do it FOREALEX !
